Shot in Carcans, France on the Atlantic coast during my September 2024 road trip. I was staying in a guest house with a surf instructor and paddled out for my first surf session. Between sets I captured this surfer walking into powerful Atlantic waves, a candid moment of grit and freedom.
Carcans sits on the Médoc coastline north of Bordeaux, close to Lacanau and endless sand dunes, pine forests, and consistent swells. It’s a classic Nouvelle-Aquitaine surf spot, known for whitewater, beach breaks, and big winter swell, a mix of wild nature and relaxed surf culture.
