But in 2022...
I lost everything.
Bankruptcy, Broken Nose, Broken front teeth, Cat Died, Criminal Record and Van immobilised …
Artist No Matter What
The Restart
I had everything I needed except meaning.
So I started over.
I’m Anthony Pucelle, the artist behind Melbrins.
In 2021, I left behind my career as a full-stack developer and UI/UX designer to follow my dream of becoming an artist.
I chose the uncertain path of travel, creation, and reinvention, and that journey now shapes every illustration I make.
The Vision
In order to allow my career change, I had to reduce my life expenses as much as possible and give myself some time to improve my drawing skills.
I didn’t know where I wanted to settle myself but the only thing I was certain of, is that I needed to restart anew somewhere else.
So I decided to buy a Volskwagen Transporter T25 and to make it my home by embracing the van life. Originally planning to do its convertion in France and then move on to travel around Europe.
Jack
The van was also the perfect way for me to be able to travel with my cat. It gave him his own territory for safety and provided me with countless stories to draw from.
There was no Melbrins without Jack.
Two Years of Vanlife
From 2021 to 2023 I lived in my van with my black cat, traveling around France and converting the van into my home.
I learned a lot about myself and had the opportunity to meet a lot of amazing people.
I lived in a garage in South West of France for 3 months and learn from professionals how to fix the bodywork.
I drove all around the country, from the seaside of South West of France to the wintery scenary of North East of France and through the tortuous mountain roads of the Alps.
I lost everything.
Bankruptcy, Broken Nose, Broken front teeth, Cat Died, Criminal Record and Van immobilised …
Finding Meaning
I started with everything that I could wish for and barely 2 years later I had lost everything. My choice to pursue my dream had brought me to hit rock bottom with no hope in sight for any success.
I had to find meaning in what happened, find a way to learn from it and keep moving forward.
6 months later I started to travel South-East Asia as a Digital Nomad. My dream of becoming an Artist more alive than ever.
